About Lydia...
Lydia has been working with sound since she was a child, singing to the trees and receiving songs from them, giving and receiving healing. Many of the lessons and gifts she has received from the trees are those she passes on to her clients.
"We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." - T. S. Eliot I remember a conversation I had with my college advisor, when in my twenties. I wanted to offer healing in some fashion, but I had no desire to go through the hell of medical school. She gently said to me, "There are many ways to offer healing, Lydia," and I realized how funny what I said sounded to her - she who was not an M.D. but offered so much healing through her courses in Shamanism, Awareness Through the Body, and just through her one-on-one meetings with us students. There are always opportunities to give healing, even when others are not aware they receive that gift. There are also gifts whom the givers are not aware that they give. All my life, I had gone to the trees when I needed comfort, solace, and healing. There was a beautiful cedar in my backyard who I climbed often, who gave me my first spiritual lesson. She filled me to the brim with energy, and I joyfully tried to reciprocate by giving back the energy. She clearly stopped me, pushing the energy back into my body. "Receive," was the message. My most beloved mentor who I met in high school taught me a Qi Gong practice called "tree sitting," in which you sit with your back pressed up against the bark of a big, healthy old tree and receive energy, which you then circulate in the micro-cosmic orbit. It became my daily practice, but I rarely spoke of it to others, fearing they would think I was weird. Later I found out, the word "weird" originally meant "holy"... interestingly enough. |
Through my life, I've also found inspiration for songs, poetry, and visions through the trees, as well as the wind, the ocean, stones... and all of the wild natural elements. In college, every morning I went outside to some beautiful place, sat and felt the energy, and then allowed that place to sing itself through me. This is the essence of Tree Spiritsong. But I didn't know it then. I never even thought of sharing my experience with anyone, assuming they would think I was crazy to talk to trees, water, air, rocks... I wanted to keep it sacred and so again, I didn't speak about it even to close friends.
After I became initiated in Usui Reiki, and became a Oneness Blessing Giver, I joined a healing share group. One day, I noticed little stars in the etheric field all around the woman on the table in front of me. "Can I try something?" I asked her, curious, and she assented. I touched one of the stars, asking it what it wanted. It moved, connecting with me energetically and asking me to help it "slide back into place." I felt as if I was assisting a tiny needle to fit back into its hole or "spot." Years later I realized I was working on the light grid, and this evolved into what is now Starpoints Returning. It was not until after I went to India, met my future husband, and moved to the East Coast that I began to put the pieces together. Through a friend I heard about an amazing new healing modality called Atlas Balancing, which uses Soundcodes (sound vibration and tonalities) as its main vehicle. I knew I had to receive this therapy, the moment I heard about it. After my experience, I knew I had to learn how to do this, so I could offer it to others. And then my healing journey really got underway! After becoming an Atlas Balancer, I realized that I needed to start offering Starpoints Returning to people because it was needed... and then came a deeper discovery. Those songs that the trees had been giving me for years, and that I had received for myself and my family, and given back to the trees for their own healing - those were what I was supposed to be sharing with people, out in the world. The trees are not just here to provide oxygen, to keep the soil alive and hold it in place, to provide shade and respite and nourishment in so many ways - but they are also here to actively provide us with energetic healing and sustenance, and to help us remember who we are. Just as we are here to protect and speak for them when their voices are not heard. Every day that I was pregnant with my first child, I went to a big beautiful old tree, offered my respects, and pressed that baby-belly up against the tree, asking for blessings. The energy given by the trees is phenomenal. It is truly unconditional love. And the songs that come from them speak to the inner voice of humans, which when sung aloud is naturally healing and has been forgotten or buried for probably thousands of years by most. It is time to remember and use again this old knowledge of sound that can create such a difference in our wellbeing - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. With so much gratitude to the trees! |
